NO. 13- 7) El Set Public Hearing For <br /> CONTINUED TO <br /> <br /> FILE NUMBER <br /> I ANAGER <br /> <br /> RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br /> Award a contract to Govplace for the purchase of HP servers & storage, in the amount not to <br /> exceed $267,100, subject to non-substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City <br /> Attorney. <br /> <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> <br /> The City of Santa Ana Police Department and City Hall Data Centers house and operate 105 <br /> physical computer servers and 155 virtual servers. Collectively these servers host over 50 <br /> departmental computer applications such as Computer-Aided Dispatch, ProLaw, and Class. <br /> Currently nine servers have reached their end of life and no longer meet operational capacity <br /> and are incompatible with virtualization software. <br /> <br /> Staff recommends the replacement of four servers in the Police Department and five servers in <br /> City Hall to add data storage capacity and improved performance which are critical to operational <br /> needs. In addition, the new servers will support the virtual infrastructure which enables each <br /> physical server to support multiple virtual servers. <br /> <br /> The notice inviting bids was advertised on July 25, 2013 and bids were solicited.
