• Encouraged all to attend Fire Open House on September 8th at Station <br />75 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. <br />Councilmember Sarmiento: <br />• Pursuant to AB1234, reported on recent trip to Portland to review fixed <br />guide -way project being proposed; met with non - profit organization that <br />helped fund project; reviewed mobility and possible economic <br />development opportunities; essential for City Council to be engaged in <br />project including OCTA board member; <br />• Commented on Strategic Plan, outreach efforts, opined that Plan is <br />fluid and subject to change as demographic and other needs change; <br />• Oral report — Development Committee to meet on Thursday to review <br />City's Transit Vision projects, and received updates on the Request for <br />Qualifications project for YMCA and Broadway Parking Structure, <br />General Plan and Housing Element, <br />Councilmember Reyna: <br />• Reported on recent trip to Portland, <br />• Attended Zoofari event, well attended; kudos to event coordinators; <br />• School back in session; best wishes to all returning students; <br />• Recognized Broncos team and Little League for representing City well; <br />applaud coaches are leadership; <br />• Urged all to conserve water; <br />• Shop in Santa Ana; and <br />• Invited all to attend upcoming Fiestas Patrias celebration. <br />Councilmember Benavides: <br />• Toured the City of Portland's Street Car Project; met with City and <br />transit leaders; vision is to have regional impact; <br />• The South Main Street Merchants hosting Broom and Groom event on <br />Saturday, September 7 from 8 -10 a.m.; invited all to Monthly <br />Community Office Hours at Jerome Park from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and <br />Monthly Art Walk all being held on Saturday; <br />• Shop and support our local businesses; <br />• September 13th will kick off Fiestas Patrias with carnival; invited all to <br />celebrate; <br />• Report Out — Public Safety Committee discussed policy on ICE <br />detainee program; noted that City follows State Attorney General <br />Guidelines. <br />Mayor Pro Tern Tinajero: <br />• Thanked all for attending meeting; <br />• Attended tour in Los Angeles of mixed use dwelling project areas — <br />urban and mixed use; <br />• Recently met with parents from Kidworks; thanked staff for great <br />service provided; <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 16 SEPTEMBER 3, 2013 <br />1 0A -16 <br />
