OC Children's Therapeutic Arts Center 2013-14 Program Narrative <br />TABLE 3: State Certificate Programs at OCCTAC in partnership with the Santa Ana College <br />PROGRAM <br />DESCRIPTION <br />Days/Times <br />Executive Administrative <br />This program prepares students for in-depth training in <br />M,T,W, Thurs <br />Assistant Certificate Program <br />executive secretary/administrative assistant positions. The <br />open-entry/open exit, competency -based format promotes <br />4:00 — 8:30 pm <br />success in a high employment occupational field. The program <br />develops skills in research, report and correspondence <br />preparation, advanced computer software applications, <br />database management, interactive presentations, customer <br />service and telephone techniques, and other advanced office <br />procedures. <br />Mental Health <br />Students learn basic skills for employment as a <br />Tuesdays <br />Paraprofessional <br />Paraprofessional mental health worker. They acquire <br />(6:00 — 9:00 pm) <br />Certificate Program <br />knowledge about the treatment of psychological and behavioral <br />health disorders and the philosophy of delivery of mental <br />Thursdays <br />health services to improve entry into this field. This certificate <br />(6:00 — 9:00 pm) <br />program develops competency for vocational success that <br />allows students to attain skill development in basic delivery of <br />Saturdays <br />services, documentation and reporting, introduction to human <br />(1:00 — 5:00 pm) <br />development, principals of case management, working with <br />families and employability. <br />Child Care Worker <br />Students learn about health information required for licensing <br />M, W, F <br />Certificate Program <br />and skills necessary for successful operation of a childcare <br />business. Also, students learn soft skills for those who would <br />8:30 am — 12:00 <br />prefer to be employed by a childcare business. <br />pm <br />In addition to our state certificate programs, WIA participants will be required to meet individually with key <br />staff, participate in daily and weekly educational trainings, and monthly workshops. Participants will also <br />engage in weekly "hands-on" work experience and job training opportunities at our agency and other <br />community sites. The following tables 4 & 5 demonstrates the variety of programs that we offer at OCCTAC <br />and how WIA participants can choose from any of these programs/fields to fulfill their career goals and work <br />experience.
