Our program is designed to provide them with hands-on paid <br />work experience and training in arts, education, clericallcustomer service, computer programs and technology. <br />QUALIFICATION CRITERIA <br />Out -of -school youth (not attending any school at the time of enrollment). <br />17 to 21 years of age. <br />Santa Ana Residents. <br />- Citizens or legal residents. <br />If the youth meets these minimum requirements, they can apply to bVIA program. THIS DOES NOT MEAN <br />THEY ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE PROGRAM! <br />SERVICES PROVIDED <br />Paid work experience and training <br />Job search skills training and job search assistance <br />One-on-one English and Math tutoring <br />High School diploma support in partnership with SIATech <br />Career exploration and educational counseling services <br />Life skills and job skills workshops <br />Support groups and counseling service referrals <br />Supportive services <br />PROGRAM STRUCTURE <br />In order to fully benefit from our program, participants are required to commit to at least 9 months to training, work experience and <br />other program related activities unless their goals are achieved earlier. Depending on each youth's individual needs and interests, <br />during their participation in the program they may be provided with one or a combination of the services mentioned above. <br />Throughout their participation in the program all youth will receive assistance as needed from specific staff to fulfill their educational <br />and employment goals. <br />Four Stipend Periods - First 100 hours of participation <br />Most youth are able to complete their first 100 hours of participation in about 2 months. During the first two months of participation in <br />the program all youth will be required to attend regularly for about 10-20 hours a week. For their consistent participation youth will <br />receive a 150.00 dollars stipend after they complete the first 25 hours. Youth will receive three more stipends, each of $150.00, upon <br />completing the 2"d-J" set of 25 hours for a total of 100 hours. <br />Hourly Rate Period — Once Youth completes the Four Stipend Periods <br />Immediately after the completion of the first 100 hours of participation, those youth that have shown consistency will be encouraged <br />to work between 15-25 hours per week until theirjob training period is completed. These youth will be paid $8.00 per hour, <br />Transition out of the OCCTAC WIA Youth Program <br />Participating youth will be encouraged to gradually transition out of their WIA Prograrnjob training placements into unsubsidized <br />employment in the community. Youth will be encouraged to make this transition during the last four months of their participation in <br />the program unless they have completed their training and have achieved their educational and employment goals earlier.
