Signature 6� � / Title CEO <br />I. Executive Summary <br />Date 3/1/2013 <br />KidWorks Community Development Corporation (KidWorks) is a 501(c)3 non-profit <br />organization. KidWorks requests WIA funding in the amount of $81,302 to support the <br />CareerWorks Program, which will provide paid work experiences, diploma/certificate/GED <br />completion support, and college/career readiness services to 12 youth ages 16-21. Of these 12 <br />WIA eligible youth, 6 will be out-of-school and 6 will be in -school. There will be priority spots <br />for at least one probation youth, one foster/emancipated youth, and one youth with disabilities. <br />At least 10% of youth enrolled will be foster youth, youth on probation, and youth with <br />disabilities. <br />II. Experience/Qualifications <br />Experience: KidWorks Community Development Corporation was founded in 1993 as a <br />program of a non-profit agency called Hispanic Ministry Center. KidWorks independently <br />incorporated to have its own non-profit status in 2002 with a mission to restore at -risk <br />neighborhoods one life at a time. From 1993 until 2005, KidWorks' services were primarily <br />aimed at children, 4-12 years old, living in Santa Ana, California. <br />Since 2005, KidWorks has been offering extensive youth development programs that include <br />paid work experiences, tutoring, SAT preparation, college application assistance, job site visits, <br />college campus tours, summer employment, leadership development training, financial literacy, <br />youth -led community service projects, fitness activities, and mentoring relationships. For the past <br />two years, KidWorks has offered workshops to expose youth to careers in the fields of <br />Science/Health, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). <br />In Summer 2009, KidWorks operated a Santa Ana Youth Employment Program through the <br />Santa Ana W/O/R/K Center and employed eight 10`h and 11 cn grade students. 100% of those <br />students returned to high school the following semester and have obtained their high school <br />diploma. Of the eight who graduated from high school, six are enrolled in college and one is <br />employed. <br />Impact: KidWorks serves over 800 children, youth, and parents in weekly educational and <br />enrichment programs and up to 3,000 residents per year through community -wide services and <br />events. For the past four years, 91% of high school students enrolled in KidWorks' after school <br />program have graduated from high school on-time and 94% of graduates have enrolled in <br />college/university, technical school, or military service the following quarter. <br />Although academic achievement is encouraged at KidWorks, we do not discriminate towards <br />low- or high -achieving students.
