ORANGE COUNTY <br />CONSERVATION CORPS <br />Orange County Conservation Corps <br />Paid Youth Work Experience Policy <br />Purpose: <br />Earn... Learn.._ Serve... <br />Tools to Green the Future! <br />To establish guidelines for the paid youth work experience of any grant program <br />governed by W.I.A. regulations and to provide youth with meaningful work experience in <br />order to assure the successful completion of our program. <br />Background: This work experience will improve youth job skills and help youth develop a <br />mature approach to working with other people. The goal is to provide a structured <br />learning experience, which takes place in a workplace for a limited period of time and <br />designed to provide specific behavioral skills appropriate for the workplace. Additionally, <br />it promotes the development of professional work habits. <br />Eligibility: <br />1. An individual must be WIA eligible and enrolled with the Orange County <br />Conservation Corps (OCCC). <br />2. An individual must have a legal right to work in the United States and be able to <br />furnish proof upon enrollment in the program. <br />3. As it is with all WIA services, provision of services is not an entitlement. <br />Placements: <br />1. All participants will start at a minimum of $8.00 per hour and will be provided with <br />the WC benefits. <br />2. All participants will work up to 32 hours per week. <br />3. All placements will be made based on the individual interests and plans <br />developed with the Case Manager to support the youth in the career exploration <br />and achievement of their goals. Placements will be available on OCCC crews <br />and worksite partner organizations. <br />Roles and Responsibilities: <br />Case Manager is responsible for: <br />a. Assessing and keeping record of youth's work experience needs and <br />placements. <br />b. Informing participant of the OCCC policies and formal procedures. <br />c.
