her salary rate shall be fixed in the appropriate salary rate range for the lower <br />classification in accordance with the following provisions: <br />A. The salary rate shall be reduced by at least one (1) salary step (approximately <br />5%). <br />B. The new salary rate must be within the appropriate salary rate range. <br />C. The new salary rate shall not be higher than the salary step to which the employee <br />would have been entitled had his or her service time in the higher classification <br />been spent in the lower classification. <br />D, If the salary rate recommended by the Department Head is lower than the <br />maximum step permissible under Subsection C above, such recommendation shall <br />be considered a reduction in pay in addition to the demotion and shall be handled <br />in accordance with the provisions for salary reductions in Section 4.9 above. <br />4.12 Reallocation of Salary Rate Ranges. Any employee who is employed in a classification <br />which is reallocated to a different salary rate range from that previously assigned shall be <br />retained in the same salary step in the new salary rate range as he or she had previously <br />held in the prior rate range and shall retain credit for length of service in such step <br />towards advancement to the next higher step. <br />4.13 Request for Classification Review. Any employee who, for a period exceeding one (1) <br />year, believes he or she is regularly and consistently performing duties and/or <br />responsibilities not in conformance with their classification concept or, duties and/or <br />responsibilities of another classification, may request a classification review of their <br />position through their supervisor to the Department Head. The employee must submit <br />their request on a form specified by the Executive Director of Personnel Services, <br />outlining in writing how they believe their current duties and/or responsibilities differ <br />from their classification concept. <br />A. The Department Head will review the employee's submitted request and within <br />sixty (60) days will make one of the following determinations: <br />Will support the employee's request. <br />a. If the Department Head supports the employee's request for a <br />classification review, he or she will forward the request to the <br />Executive Director of Personnel Services along with justification <br />for support of the employee's request. <br />b. The Department Head will notify the employee that his or her <br />request has been submitted to the Executive Director of Personnel <br />Services. <br />16 <br />25B-56
