N. Notwithstanding the specific provisions of Article V, Section 5. 1, A - M, supra, an <br />incumbent who is regularly and continuously assigned to lead a functional unit which <br />includes positions in the same or lower classifications as the incumbent, may be <br />compensated for said duties upon mutual agreement of the City and POA and <br />approval of the Police Chief and the Executive Director of Personnel Services. This <br />compensation shall be referred to as "lead pay." <br />0. Effective September 1, 2006, an incumbent in the class of Forensic Specialist I or <br />Forensic Specialist It who is continuously and regularly assigned as a Tenprint - <br />AFIS Technician will be paid at a rate set five (5) salary rate ranges (approximately <br />2.51/o) above his or her then current base monthly salary step. <br />P. Effective September 1, 2006, an incumbent in the class of Forensic Specialist I or <br />Forensic Specialist II who is continuously and regularly assigned as a Fingerprint <br />Analyst will be paid at a rate set five (5) salary rate ranges (approximately 2.5%) <br />above his or her then current base monthly salary step. In no event shall an <br />incumbent receive more than ten (10) salary rate ranges (approximately 5%) more <br />than his or her then current base monthly salary step for performing the duties of both <br />the Tenprint - AFIS Technician and Fingerprint Analyst. <br />5.2 Shift Differential. Non-Sworn Personnel. Each employee in the classes of Animal Service <br />Officer I, Animal Service Officer II, Forensic Specialist I, Crime Research Analyst, Forensic <br />Specialist II, Police Communications Supervisor, Police Investigative Specialist, Police <br />Property & Evidence Specialist, Police Service Officer, Police Evidence and Supply <br />Specialist, Police Services Dispatcher, Communications Services Officer, Detention Officer, <br />Detention Supervisor and Parking Control Officer who is continuously and regularly <br />assigned to a schedule of work which requires that he or she actually work a minimum of <br />four and one-half (41 /2) hours between the hours of 5:00 P.M. and 7:00 A.M. will be paid a <br />shift differential at a rate set ten (10) salary rate ranges (approximately 5.0%) above his or <br />her then current base monthly salary step. <br />5.3 Bilingual Pay, Qualified employees who meet the following criteria shall be paid a monthly <br />pay differential, above his or her base monthly salary step, as follows: <br />A. Assignment by the Police Chief or his designee to a position requiring bilingual <br />capability in both English and one of the following languages: Spanish, Samoan, <br />Vietnamese, Cambodian, Korean, Hmong or other language designated by the City <br />Manager; and <br />B. Certification by the chief personnel officer as having satisfactorily demonstrated the <br />required level of fluency in both languages. <br />C. Sworn: Street Level Proficiency in Spanish. A Police Officer or Sergeant who <br />successfully demonstrates the required level of bilingual fluency as determined by the <br />chief personnel officer shall be paid a bilingual pay differential in an amount equal to <br />the product obtained by multiplying the Step "E" base salary rate ofPolice Officer by <br />18 <br />25A-41
