NO. 13 -016) <br />CITY MANA ER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance onI "Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2 "dReading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Renew the contract with Zebron Contracting, Inc. for the rehabilitation and lining of sewer manholes <br />for a one -year period in an amount not to exceed $75,000, subject to non - substantive changes <br />approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Water Resources Division performs ongoing assessment of the condition of the <br />City's 8,000 concrete and brick sewer manholes. Through this routine assessment, staff identifies <br />sewer manholes in need of rehabilitation, a process that repairs and seals the interior of the manhole <br />with a polyurethane coating. The recommended action will repair 33 manholes and prevent structural <br />failure while extending the life of sewer manholes for a fraction of the cost of replacement. <br />On May 6, 2013, the City Council awarded a contract to Zebron Contracting, Inc. for a one -year <br />period with provisions for three, one -year renewals. The vendor has agreed to renew the contract <br />without an increase in pricing.
