Award a contract to 5Star Elevator Service, Inc., in the amount of $73,216 for the <br />modernization of the elevator at the Main Library. <br />2. Approve the Cost Analysis, as shown in Exhibit 1, for a total estimated project delivery cost of <br />$87,665. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The recommended actions will allow modernization of the elevator which is necessary to improve <br />its reliability, minimize shutdowns, ensure the safety of the building tenants, reduce the risk of <br />injury to passengers, and increase tenant satisfaction. The City of Santa Ana Main Library was <br />constructed in 1959. Only on one occasion have improvements been made to the library's <br />elevator and its system. <br />A Request for Proposals (RFP) was posted on the City website August 27, 2013. Four proposals <br />were received on September 16, 2013, and were evaluated by the Public Works Agency and the <br />Building Maintenance Division of the Finance & Management Services Agency. <br />Proposal evaluations took into account company qualifications, project cost, time for completion, <br />and responsiveness to the RFP. One proposal was determined to be nonresponsive.
