The residence is historically significant for its association with first owners Neil and Myma Berck.
Originally from Nebraska, Neil moved to Santa Ana, California as a child and attended school in Long Beach. He graduated
from Long Beach State College with a degree in Industrial Arts. Calvin and Helen Gilbert purchased the home shortly after in
1952. Calvin Gilbert was the primary electrician for the construction of this structure being a founding member of Gilbert and
Steams Electric. It is notable that Gilbert and Steams still operate at 609 E 4th St, Santa Ana. Calvin Gilbert lived in this
home until his death in 1976.
(See Continuation Sheet 3 of 4)
811.
