The approach - <br />departure path begins at the edge of the landing pad, with the same <br />width or diameter as the landing pad and is a rising slope extending <br />outward and upward at a ratio of eight feet horizontal distance for <br />every one foot of vertical height. <br />412.7.6.4 Safety Area. The safety area is a horizontal plane level <br />with the landing pad surface and shall extend 25 ft in all directions <br />from the edge of the landing pad. No objects shall penetrate above <br />the plane of the safety area. <br />412.7.6.5 Safety Net. If the rooftop landing pad is elevated more <br />provided around the perimeter of the landing pad. The inner edge <br />of the safety net attached to the landing pad shall be slightly <br />dropped (greater than 5 in. but less than 18 in.) below the pad <br />elevation. The safety net shall slope upward but the outer safety net <br />edge shall not be above the elevation of the landing pad. <br />412.7.6.6 Take -off and Landing Area. The takeoff and landing <br />area shall be free of obstructions and 100 ft x 100 ft. or 100 ft. <br />diameter. <br />412.7.6.7 Wind Indicating Device. An approved wind indicating <br />device shall be provided but shall not extend into the safety area or <br />the approach - departure paths. <br />412.7,6.8 Special Markings. The emergency helicopter landinq <br />facility shall be marked as indicated in Figure 412.7.6.8. <br />412.7.6.9 EHLF Exits. Two stairway exits shall be provided from <br />or ladder leading to the roof surface below. The stairway from the <br />landing g acility plafform to the floor below shall comply with CFC <br />1009.4.2 for riser height and tread depth. Handrails shall be <br />provided, but shall not extend above the platform surface. <br />412.7.6.10 Standpipe systems.
