REQUEST FOR <br />AGENCY ACTION <br />AGENCY BOARD MEETING DATE: <br />AUGUST 16, 2004 <br />TITLE <br />AGREEMENT WITH SIGN SOURCE FOR <br />PEDESTRIAN SIGN PROGRAM IN THE <br />ARTISTS VILLAGE <br />Educanon lst <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />AGENCY SECRETARY USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ <br />As Recommended <br />❑ <br />As Amended <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 2ntl Reading <br />❑ <br />Implementing Resolution <br />❑ <br />Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the Agency General Counsel to prepare and authorize the Executive <br />Director to execute an agreement with Sign Source for an additional <br />amount not to exceed $15,000 to construct and install new pedestrian <br />directional signs in the Artists Village. <br />COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br />Recommended that the Community Redevelopment Agency direct the Agency <br />General Counsel to prepare and authorize the Executive Director to <br />execute an agreement with Sign Source for an additional amount not to <br />exceed $15,000 to construct and install new pedestrian directional signs <br />in the Artists Village. <br />By a vote of 5:0 (Betancourt and Bustamante absent) at its Regular <br />Meeting of August 3, 2004. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Sign Source has installed new pedestrian directional signs in the Artists <br />Village. The original contract included three freestanding "You are <br />Here" signs with maps, one freestanding directional sign to the Artists <br />Village, and three "Artists Village Parking" signs on the Third and Birch <br />parking structure. This original contract was for an amount not to <br />exceed $50,000. Due to some unforeseen changes in the sign locations, <br />additional design and engineering costs were incurred.
