Although the RTC improvements have been completed, the surrounding area continues to have <br />a mix of incompatible and deteriorated residential and industrial uses. The Agency hopes to <br />assist in the projects thF' ,ill capitalize on the availability of public transportation such as mixed - <br />use or higher density housing and compatible industrial uses. <br />North Harbor Redevelopment Project Area <br />The North Harbor Redevelopment Project Area was adopted by the City Council on July 6, <br />1982, by Ordinance No. NS -1637, and contains approximately 428 acres of land. The North <br />Harbor Redevelopment Project Area is generally located along Harbor Boulevard from <br />Westminster Avenue to Kent Avenue and along 5th Street, 1st Street and McFadden Avenue <br />from Harbor Boulevard to the Santa Ana River. The South Harbor Rro t Area is primarily developed with light industrial uses. The <br />goal for the South Harbor area is to create a vibrant contemporary business park. The Agency <br />has funded landscape improvements along Warner Avenue to create the industrial park image <br />and is now focusing on the development of remaining opportunity sites. An example of the <br />Agency's assistance is the retention and expansion of Waxie Janitorial Supplies Company to <br />the area.
