REQUEST FOR <br />AGENCY ACTION <br />AGENCY BOARD MEETING DATE: <br />SEPTEMBER 5, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br />LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH BOWERS <br />MUSEUM FOR KIDSEUM <br />EXECUTE E DIRECTOR <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />AGENCY SECRETARY USE ONLY: <br />MOfTOn/; C�lUalev <br />APPROVED <br />IZ As Recommended 7 v <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2 n Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the Agency General Counsel to prepare and authorize the Executive <br />Director to execute a License Agreement with the Bowers Museum <br />Corporation for Operation of The Children's Museum Center ( Kidseum). <br />DISCUSSION <br />In January 1994 the Redevelopment Agency authorized the acquisition of <br />property for the Children's Museum Center. The License Agreement entered <br />into on June 20, 1994, for the occupancy and use of the premise has <br />expired. Kidseum is a multi -use, comprehensive environment for learning <br />which addresses the needs of the community. The primary focus is pre- <br />school and early primary age children. Current programs consist of <br />music, art and storytelling. Hours of operation are concurrent with the <br />Bowers Museum. <br />The facility will also be used for Scout merit -badge classes and "Bridges <br />to Understanding" computer labs. In addition, space will be available <br />for docent training, teacher workshops, and public meetings. The <br />proposed agreement will have a 10 -year term. <br />4 -1 <br />
