Recently, the City received a final invoice in the amount of
$83,227.73 from the Gas Company for the actual cost of work performed.
The additional cost due to Gas Company is $7,687.73.
The City Council awarded a contract to LNI Custom Manufacturing, Inc. for
the fabrication and installation of the new 87 -foot wide Main Street
archway sign in October 2006. To accommodate the proposed sign post
footing location, the interfering underground gas line needed to be
relocated from the sidewalk into the street by Southern California Gas
Company. Based on the City's franchise agreement, Southern California
Gas Company is not responsible for the relocation cost of the gas line
since the scope of work for the Main Street Archway Sign project was not
a change of grade, alignment or width of a public street. The City,
therefore, is responsible for the full cost of relocating the gas line.
4 -15
