Aviation Facilities (Chapter 20). <br />Section 2008 Emergency Helicopter Landing Facility (EHLF) and its subsections are <br />hereby added as follows. <br />SECTION 2008 <br />Emergency Helicopter Landing Facility (EHLF) <br />2008.1 General. Every building of any type of construction or occupancy having <br />floors used for human occupancy located more than 75 ft above the lowest level <br />of fire department vehicle access shall have a rooftop emergency helicopter <br />landing facility (EHLF) in a location approved by the fire code official for use by <br />fire, police, and emergency medical helicopters only. <br />2008.1.1 Rooftop Landing Pad. The landing pad shall be 50 ft. x 50 ft. or a 50 <br />ft. diameter circle that is pitched or sloped to provide drainage away from access <br />points and passenger holding areas at a slope of 0.5 percent to 2 percent. The <br />landing pad surface shall be constructed of approved non - combustible, <br />nonporous materials. It shall be capable of supporting a helicopter with a <br />maximum gross weight of 15,000 lbs.
