NO. 10 -040) <br />CITY MANAGE <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1"Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2n'Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Renew the contract with Ben's Asphalt, Inc., for pothole repair services for a one year period in an <br />amount not to exceed $450,000, subject to non - substantive changes approved by the City <br />Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Street Maintenance Division is responsible for maintaining approximately 400 <br />miles of roadway within the City of Santa Ana. Services provided under the pothole repair contract <br />include the repair of all potholes and the repair of all damaged pavement areas not exceeding 100 <br />sq. ft. in area with asphalt overlay. <br />On November 15, 2010, the City Council awarded a contract to Ben's Asphalt, Inc. for a one year <br />period, with provisions for three, one -year renewals. Over the past year Ben's Asphalt, Inc. has <br />utilized over 650 tons of asphalt concrete to fix small damaged pavement areas and filled <br />approximately 18,000 potholes. The vendor has agreed to renew the contract without an increase <br />in pricing.
