Art and Culture Commission 1 3 <br />Reaching Out <br />Staff began meeting with organizations and individuals connected to the art and culture activities in Santa Ana on <br />November 8, 2013. The purpose of the outreach meetings is to solicit feedback on the concept of a new Santa Ana <br />Commission focusing on the Arts and Culture. <br />Who Met With So Far <br />List of Folks that <br />Provided Past, Current, <br />and Future Perspectives <br />• Casa Guanajuato <br />• Don Cribb <br />• Mike McGee <br />• John Spiak <br />• Centro Cultural <br />• United Artists of Santa <br />Ana <br />• Ana Jimenez -Hami <br />• Silvia Volcan <br />• Sara Guerrero <br />• ArtsOC <br />• Board of Recreation <br />and Parks <br />• Dennis Lluy <br />• GCS Clothing & Culture <br />• Santa Ana Community <br />Artist(a) Coalition <br />Noteworthy Suggestions Et Observations <br />• All felt this was a very good thing for the City to do. <br />All felt that Arts and Culture is very good for the local economy. <br />• Most were very excited and supportive of the prospects of an Arts <br />and Culture Commission <br />• A few stated that the process of creating the Commission should be <br />slowed down in orderto incorporate key perspectives of those that <br />have been pioneering the arts and culture movement in the city <br />Various comments were made stating that the Commission should <br />make sure that attention Is placed on all the art forms, including the <br />performing arts <br />Santa Ana is a Cosmopolitan City was a theme that came out from <br />these meetings <br />• Several highlighted the importance forthe Commission to provide <br />leadership in obtaining grants for art and culture activities and <br />programs as key <br />• Several thoughtthat Santa Ana is a leading city in the region that <br />can authentically offer "Throwback' experience to the public and <br />50A -13 <br />
