R jnnette ✓ t V end w.
1315 N. g awaeA Stwd
Santa aaa, CQ 92706
Honorable Mayor and Santa Ana City Council members,
As a resident of Washington Square since 1996 and a patient of Dr. Robert Gonzales
for over 25 years, I am in full support of the plan presented by the Bristol Street
Business Owners Coalition as part of the Bristol Street widening project. I have
reviewed the proposed plan and I believe the building and landscape improvements will
achieve the goals of aesthetically pleasing the area and also providing the buffer from
the street traffic from negatively impacting the neighborhood. A sound wall (not a
decorative wall) is also needed to provide the neighborhood an added sound mitigation
measure. In addition, I support the professional uses that currently exist for the 8
businesses requesting to remain over any commercial /retail development. The
professional businesses have offered the community important services for many years
and they have established patients /clients. It would be a shame to let these valuable
services be lost to unknown retail and potential strip mall development.
There is absolutely no need to purchase the entire properties for this project. The city
has made concessions on other properties in the area on other widening projects.
Please consider affording the same benefit to these affected businesses and not
displace them.
I ask that you recommend to Public Works to move forward with the original plan for a
120 square foot right of way and I also ask that you approve a setback variance for the
8 businesses in the coalition and allow them to remain owners of their properties. All of
their proposed changes and upgrades will significantly improve the area for everyone.
I very much appreciate you holding a study session on this matter in order to make the
best and most informed decision.
Thank you,
Lynnette M Verino
