cleaned following each edging /detailing, including streets <br />and sidewalks (when applicable). <br />2) Fertilization <br />All ground cover beds shall be fertilized using a complete or <br />approved fertilizer (such as 16 -6 -8 Turf Supreme) four (4) times <br />per year. The rate of application shall be two (2) pounds of actual <br />nitrogen per 1,000 square feet. Proof of application in the form of <br />empty fertilizer bags may be requested at any time by the Projects <br />Manager or designee. Advanced notice shall be given to the <br />Projects Manager or designee prior to performing this task. <br />3) Renovation <br />Ground cover beds shall be thinned and pruned, separated and /or <br />relocated for the health of the planting and the appearance of the <br />site, and at such other times when directed by the Projects <br />Manager or designee. Infill planting of bare groundcover areas <br />shall be replanted in the months of March through June with flats <br />of the same species one time per year as part of routine <br />maintenance at no additional cost to the City. <br />4) Cultivation and Mulch <br />All bare soil or open areas shall be either cultivated weekly or <br />covered by a minimum of two (2) inches of mulch. All mulch <br />material shall be of a recycled product free from foreign grasses <br />and weeds and shall be approved by the City. At no time shall <br />weeds be allowed to remain in bare or planted areas. <br />5) Replanting <br />The Contractor shall be responsible for the complete removal and <br />replacement of ground cover lost due to normal attrition or to <br />Contractor's faulty maintenance or negligence, as determined by <br />the Projects Manager or designee, at no additional cost to the <br />City. <br />Contractor shall control weeds by keeping all planters, shrubs and ground <br />cover areas free of visible weeds at all times. <br />Where ground cover grows under pine trees, the Contractor shall use a <br />combination of techniques (raking and blowing) to prevent the build -up of <br />needles from forming on the ground cover. <br />Ground cover plants shall be added, as needed, to ensure a solid mass <br />planting in conformance with the original intent at no cost to the City. <br />C.
