provide the same weed control in cracks, expansion joints and <br />other small openings in the sidewalk /curb area within fifteen <br />(15) feet of each tree well. <br />IRRIGATION SYSTEM MAINTENANCE <br />General Responsibilities <br />Irrigation shall be done by the use of automatic or <br />mechanical sprinkler systems, where available and <br />operable, or manually; however, failure and /or damage <br />of the existing irrigation system to provide full and <br />proper coverage shall not relieve the Contractor of the <br />responsibility to provide adequate irrigation with full <br />and proper coverage to all areas in the contract work <br />site. <br />b. Newly planted trees, shrubs, ground cover and turf <br />shall receive special attention until these plants are <br />established. Adequate water shall be applied to <br />promote normal healthy growth. Proper berms or <br />basins shall be maintained during the establishment <br />period. <br />c. Any damages to public or private property resulting <br />from excessive irrigation water or irrigation water runoff <br />shall be charged against the contract payment unless <br />immediate repairs are made by the Contractor to the <br />satisfaction of the Projects Manager or designee. <br />Contractor shall vacuum all irrigation cabinets and <br />controllers, both inside and outside, and maintain in a <br />thoroughly clean condition at all times. <br />2. Operation of Automatic Irrigation Controllers <br />Where the operation of automatic irrigation controllers is required <br />as part of this contract, the Contractor shall: <br />a. Not duplicate any coded City key furnished by the Public <br />Works Agency for access and operation of the controller. <br />b. Surrender all keys furnished by the Public Works Agency <br />at the end of the contract period, or at any time deemed <br />necessary by the Projects Manager or designee. <br />C. Protect the security of City property by keeping controller <br />cabinets and building doors locked at all times <br />
