• l so <br />ik <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />FEBRUARY 4, 2014 <br />TITLE: <br />COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH <br />OCTA FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF THE <br />KRAEMER/GLASSELL /GRAND TRAFFIC <br />SIGNAL SYNCHRONIZATION PROJECT <br />(PROJECT NO. 146817) <br />CITY MA WAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 15` Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2na Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For _ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute a cooperative agreement with the <br />Orange County Transportation Authority, subject to nonsubstantive changes approved by the City <br />Manager and City Attorney, to implement the Kraemer Boulevard, Glassell Street, and Grand <br />Avenue Traffic Signal Synchronization Project. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Approval of this recommended action will allow the City to continue participation in the <br />implementation of an interjurisdictional traffic signal synchronization project along the <br />Kraemer/G lassell/G rand corridor which runs from Lambert Road in Brea to Dyer Road in Santa <br />Ana. The City will benefit from synchronization on Grand Avenue from SR 22 to Dyer Road. The <br />cooperative agreement identifies the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) as the lead <br />agency for the project and stipulates that OCTA is committed to funding and implementing the <br />projects. <br />On November 19, 2012, Council authorized staff to submit joint applications with the cities of Brea, <br />Placentia, Anaheim, and Orange for funding consideration under the renewed Measure M2 <br />Regional Traffic Signal Synchronization Program. The Kraemer/G lassell/G rand project was <br />submitted to provide interjurisdictional traffic signal synchronization and improvements along the <br />corridor from Brea to Santa Ana. <br />On April 8, 2013, the OCTA Board approved the local agencies' funding request.
