ROH - 1/27/14 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2014 -06 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING CONDITIONAL <br />USE PERMIT NO. 2013 -52 AS CONDITIONED TO ALLOW <br />A DOG KENNEL IN THE LIGHT INDUSTRIAL (M1) <br />ZONING DISTRICT FOR THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT <br />3203 SOUTH HARBOR BOULEVARD <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Planning Commission of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, <br />determines and declares as follows: <br />A. The applicant is requesting approval of Conditional Use Permit No. 2013- <br />52 to allow a dog kennel in the Light Industrial (M1) zoning district for the <br />property located at 3203 South Harbor Boulevard. <br />B. Conditional Use Permit No. 2013 -52 came before the Planning <br />Commission of the City of Santa Ana for a duly noticed public hearing on <br />January 27, 2014. <br />C. Santa Ana Municipal Code Section 41- 472.5(e) allows kennels for the <br />temporary care and lodging of dogs and other domesticated household <br />animals in the M1 zoning district subject to the issuance of a conditional use <br />permit. <br />D. Santa Ana Municipal Code Section 41- 638(a)(1) authorizes the Planning <br />Commission to grant a conditional use permit upon making certain <br />findings. <br />1. That the proposed use will provide a service or facility, which will <br />contribute to the general well being of the neighborhood or the <br />community. <br />The proposed kennel facility will provide a service to the <br />community. The proposed kennel is a use that will support <br />the adjacent industrial and residential uses in the area and <br />will assist in diversifying the range of services available to <br />those working or residing in the south and west sections of <br />the city. Further, the proposed kennel is best suited within a <br />larger building that is typically found in the City's industrial <br />zoning districts. <br />2. That the proposed use will under the circumstances of the <br />particular case be detrimental to the health, safety, or general <br />welfare of persons residing or working in the vicinity. <br />Resolution No. 2014 -06 <br />Page 1 of 5 <br />
