REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />APRIL 15, 2014 <br />TITLE: <br />SECOND AMENDMENT TO LEASE <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY OF <br />ORANGE AT THE SANTA ANA <br />REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION <br />CENTER <br />/rL <br />CITY MA&AGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2ntl Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute a second amendment to the Lease <br />Agreement with the County of Orange for office space at the Santa Ana Regional Transportation <br />Center, subject to nonsubstantive changes, approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />Approval of this recommended action will provide for a three -year extension of the agreement between <br />the City and the County of Orange for office space at the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center <br />( SARTC). Since 1997, the County has leased space at the SARTC for the CaIWORKs program. This <br />state - mandated program assists welfare clients in finding employment. In February 2011, the City and <br />County exercised the option to extend the lease from March 1, 2011, to February 28, 2014. As <br />stipulated in the agreement, the lease remains in effect on a month -to -month basis pending approval of <br />this amendment. <br />The County has proposed a second amendment to the lease extending the term for three years, <br />terminating on February 28, 2017. In addition, this agreement acknowledges an increase in square <br />footage from 6,554 to 6,824, and monthly compensation of $10,404.90. Compensation to the City will <br />be adjusted annually on March 1 in accordance with the Consumer Price Index. Staff recommends that <br />the City exercise the second amendment of the lease agreement, effective March 1, 2014, and ending <br />on February 28, 2017. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />There is no environmental impact associated with this action. <br />25F -1 <br />
