COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION At its regular meeting on April 16, 2014, by a vote of 5:0 (Sandoval absent), the Community Redevelopment and Housing Commission recommended the action stated above. DISCUSSION Each year, the City of Santa Ana receives funding from various formula grant allocation programs administered by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These funds provide valuable services to the community such as affordable and supportive housing, community development programs, public services and economic opportunities. The programs include Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership Grant (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG). Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS ( HOPWA) funds had been previously allocated to the City of Santa Ana as the most populous city in the county to use throughout the County of Orange to provide resources, supportive services and incentives for long -term comprehensive strategies to meet the housing needs for persons with HIV /AIDS. This fiscal year the City of Anaheim has been awarded the HOPWA funds. Due to the late notification, the City of Santa Ana will contract with the City of Anaheim as an administrative agent to operate the HOPWA funds. During Fiscal Year 2014 -2015, the City will receive the following allocations: 29A -1
