RESOLUTION NO. 2014- <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA TO AMEND RESOLUTION NO. 82 -110 TO <br />AMEND THE CITY'S BASIC CLASSIFICATION AND <br />COMPENSATION PLAN TO CHANGE ONE FULL TIME <br />CLASSIFICATION TITLE FROM SENIOR TRAFFIC ENGINEER <br />TO SENIOR TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER TO REFLECT <br />ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION AND MOBILITY DUTIES <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1: The City Council hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter of the City of Santa Ana <br />requires the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a position <br />classification and pay plan subject to civil service rules and regulations <br />and the approval of the City Council. <br />B. On August 2, 1982, the City Council passed and adopted Resolution No. <br />82 -110 revising and re- establishing the Basic Classification and <br />Compensation Plan for Officers and Employees of the City of Santa Ana. <br />C. In keeping with the City's desire to improve travel safety and choices for <br />the Santa Ana community, including motorists, bicyclists, transit operators <br />and users, and pedestrians of all ages and abilities, the Interim Executive <br />Director of Public Works proposes to change one full time classification <br />title. This title change will accurately reflect the duties and responsibilities <br />to be performed in relation to complex traffic engineering and <br />transportation planning work which will include leading the City's traffic <br />safety and Complete Streets efforts. <br />D. It is the City's practice to assign job titles that accurately reflect the duties <br />and responsibilities of the classification and are consistent with other <br />classifications within the City's organizational structure. <br />E. It is now desired to amend Council Resolution No. 82 -110, as amended, <br />in order to effect this change. <br />Section 2: That Section 3 of Resolution No. 82 -110, as amended, is hereby <br />further amended by changing the following existing classification title at no change to <br />the seven -step salary rate range currently assigned: <br />From <br />Senior Traffic Engineer <br />55D -3 <br />To <br />Senior Transportation Engineer <br />
