CITY MANAGER'S COMMENTS <br />City Manager Cavazos welcomed new Orange County Fire Authority Battalion <br />Chief, Devin Leonard as the Santa Ana Chief; commented on success of 5 de <br />Mayo Festivities held over the weekend; and encouraged all to attend Bike to <br />Work event on Wednesday, May 7th at 7 a.m. at the Depot. <br />90B. CITY COUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Martinez: <br />• Request meeting be adjourned in memory of Alonso Solorzano <br />• Thanked staff for bringing forward 65B - City's first Legislative Platform; <br />includes process on letters of support and City Manager goals and <br />communication with lobbyist; <br />• Thanked Acting Planning Director Karen Haluza for receiving Planning <br />Award by Southern California Association of Governments on the Triada <br />Project; <br />• Bike -to -Work event to be held tomorrow, May 7th at 7 a.m. at the WORK <br />Center; raffling bicycles; <br />• Thanked all mothers and recognized hard work and efforts as Mother's <br />Day approaches; and <br />• City Manager to meet with the May Day Coalition group and provide the <br />Jail Profitability Report; requested that report and details regarding the <br />City's contract with ICE be brought forth to the Public Safety Council <br />Committee and /or the full Council. <br />Councilmember Sarmiento: <br />• Congratulated Police Chief Rojas on appointment <br />• Echoed comments regarding Cinco de Mayo event; well attended; and <br />• Wished all a Happy Mother's Day; appreciate mom and wife. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Tinajero: <br />• Happy Mother's Day to all; <br />• Celebrate success and bright future of City — budget surplus, best tasting <br />water and many more successes in Downtown Santa Ana; <br />• Recent article featured Segerstrom High School's baseball coach, Erasmo <br />Ramirez - developing students in the City; will be playing at Angel Stadium <br />on Friday at 3:30 p.m. against Orange; all should attend and support; and <br />• Recognized the life and impact of former teacher, Michael Leigh and <br />request City Council adjourn in his memory. <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 20 MAY 6, 2014 <br />1 OA -20 <br />
