THE SANTA ANA ZOO AT PRENTICE PARK <br />The Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park (the "Zoo ") is located at 1801 East Chestnut Avenue, Santa <br />Ana, California, 92701. The Zoo covers 20.5 acres including public parking areas, animal <br />housing, exhibits and buildings. The Zoo handles 90 species with approximately 250 animals <br />and 35 exhibits. <br />Hours of Zoo Operation <br />The Zoo is open to the general public Monday through Sunday (seven days per week) from <br />10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Zoo is closed to the general public only two days each year on <br />December 25 — Christmas Day and January 1 — New Year's Day; however Zoo staff are still on <br />the grounds to feed and care for the animals: <br />Note: During days of extremely inclement weather, the Zoo Manager may decide to close the <br />Zoo to the public. <br />I. SCOPE <br />The City's goal is to provide the Zoo with an early morning security tour patrol as a deterrent <br />against crimes of vandalism and theft and to insure safety to City property and the Zoo's animal <br />collection during the Zoo's closed hours (Monday through Sunday, seven days per week from <br />5:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.). <br />II. RESPONSIBILITY OF CONTRACTOR <br />The Contractor conducts one (1) security tour patrol nightly, seven (7) days per week around the <br />Zoo property perimeter and through the Zoo grounds. The tour patrol is to include eight (8) <br />strategically designated locations, utilizing a Secure Trax device and is to be performed between <br />the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. <br />Utilize the CPO, vehicle and Secure Trax device dedicated to the SARTC in the performance of <br />the nightly Zoo patrol. <br />The Contractor provides one security officer, unarmed, in standard full uniform and a <br />functioning vehicle displaying the security company's name in clear view on the vehicle. The <br />security officer is to carry a cell phone or mobile radio at all times. <br />In the event of a security breach, unusual observation or concerns for the safety of the Zoo's <br />animals, the security officer is required to make specific contacts to City personnel and/or the <br />Santa Ana Police Department. Under no circumstance is aggressive action required. <br />Daily reports of the nightly patrol rounds are to be emailed via the SecureTrax unit to the <br />appropriate City personnel. <br />The Zoo reserves the option to increase or decrease the number of nightly vehicle sweeps and the <br />number of days per week requested, with seven days written notification. <br />Page 7 of 14 <br />25D -33 <br />
