Active Transportation Coordinator <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />packets and preparation of staff reports, agendas and minutes. <br />• Responds to requests from the general public for a variety of concerns, such as traffic <br />flow, traffic safety, signal operations, neighborhood traffic problems, and future bicycle, <br />pedestrian, and transit related improvements. <br />• Coordinates and confers with other City departments and neighboring jurisdictions <br />regarding impediments to active transportation traffic flow problems, appropriate <br />modifications and resulting impacts. <br />• Assists in or performs contract administration, surreys and inspections, preparation of <br />change orders, and preparation of reports on all phases of projects including work <br />progress, financial status, progress payments, design details and calculations. <br />• Directs and monitors consultant's work and oversees preparation of plans, specification <br />and cost estimates for projects. <br />• Conducts research, analyzes data, writes active transportation reports and private <br />development reports; presents report findings to City Council, Planning Commission, <br />interdepartmental or other public meetings as assigned. <br />• Drafts documents such as resolutions, consultant contracts and agreements, and <br />request for proposals (RFP) associated with pedestrian and bicycle programs, traffic <br />programs, traffic safety improvement programs, and suggested routes to schools; <br />oversees the RFP process. <br />• Uses modern computer software applications to prepare reports, estimates, <br />agreements, written requests to City Council with recommendations, technical analyses <br />and other documents. <br />• Designs and/or assists in drafting bicycle plans using AutoCad, detailed construction <br />specifications, and estimates for individual projects. <br />• Creates, updates and maintains bicycle transportation maps in GIS. <br />• Develops and maintains a bicycle project data base for project prioritization in <br />coordination with the City Interagency Team, Public Works Operations, Planning, and <br />Parks and Recreation Departments. <br />• Provides technical support to various committees. <br />• Represents the City at public meetings. <br />• May supervise assigned staff and /or contractors. <br />• Performs other functions as assigned. <br />DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS <br />Under general direction, this single position classification assumes the lead responsibility <br />for implementing the City's Active Transportation Program. The incumbent is the point -of- <br />contact and liaison to the active transportation community. <br />55A -4 <br />
