<br />E. During the 12 month follow -up after exit, services are intermittent and on a quarterly
<br />basis. The Case Manager will contact the client to ensure that educational and career goals are
<br />being met. Supportive services may be offered and will be based on the financial needs of the
<br />client. In addition, the Job Developer will continue to send engage in job retention strategies
<br />and additional life skills building workshops. Participants will attain performance measures
<br />during follow -up with the support of their Case Manager and Job Developer.
<br />V. WORK BASED LEARNING
<br />A. All youth enrolled in the program will be offered the chance to participate in WEX (Work
<br />Experience). Youth will be placed at worksites for up to 450 hours of paid work experience.
<br />Work experience places may be in the private, for profit sector, non - profit sector or the public
<br />sector and are designed to enable youth to gain exposure to the working world and its
<br />requirements. Participants will also be offered the opportunity to "shadow" a professional who
<br />is in a career field of their interest. This opportunity is optional, and not required. Participants
<br />will with discuss with their case manager what career fields or occupations interest them at
<br />their time of intake. This information will be kept on file. After participants complete their job -
<br />readiness workshops they will meet with their case managers again to review their career
<br />interests. OCAPICA has immediate access for job shadowing careers in the fields of mental
<br />health, education, health, and community organizing. If participants are interested in one of
<br />these fields the case manager will coordinate with appropriate OCAPICA staff to take the
<br />participant on for one full business day. If participants are interested in other fields, they will
<br />work with the case manager and job developer placement specialist to contact OCAPICA's
<br />partners or other available community resources to successfully identify and coordinate a job
<br />shadowing opportunity for the youth.
<br />B. OCAPICA currently works with the following employers to place youth in WEX positions and
<br />permanent employment: Asian American Senior Citizens Service Center, Bassani
<br />Manufacturing, Boys and Girls Clubs of Stanton, Garden Grove, Cypress and Westminster, City
<br />of Stanton Parks and Recreation, Claires, Community Action Partnership of Orange County,
<br />Dolce Vita Skin and Body, Garden Grove Unified School District, Goodwill of Orange County,
<br />Habitat for Humanity, Haskett Library, Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center, Mikasa Fine
<br />Linens, Muzeo, OCAPICA, Orange County Fine Arts, OC Public Libraries of Garden Grove and
<br />Westminster, Party City, REI, Rumorz Kutz, UFC Gym, and Walgreens.
