PROCLAMATION presented by COUNCILMEMBER REYNA recognizing the Orange <br />County Fire Authority for declaring Memorial Day through Labor Day as "Drowning <br />Prevention Awareness' months in Santa Ana. <br />CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION presented by COUNCILMEMBER SARMIENTO to the <br />Santa Ana College Circle K Club for their completion of the wrought iron fence at the <br />Kiwanis Barrier Free Park. <br />PROCLAMATION presented by MAYOR PRO TEM TINAJERO recognizing the Santa Ana <br />Public Works department for proclaiming the week of Sunday, May 18 — Saturday, May 24, <br />2014 as `Public Works Week' in Santa Ana. <br />PROCLAMATION presented by MAYOR PRO TEM TINAJERO and COUNCILMEMBER <br />SARMIENTO recognizing May 22nd as Harvey Milk Day. <br />CLOSED SESSION REPORT — No reportable actions. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />• Clark Casler, member of SACReD, pleased with 5 -year Strategic Plan and additional <br />funding that benefit residents such as code enforcement, public viewing portals, health <br />and wellness programs, and arts and culture receiving new funding, and internship <br />programs; however, concerned with City's contract with Immigration and Customs <br />Enforcement (ICE). <br />• Joshua Wayne Moore, encourage job creation, education and social program for artist <br />in the community; request full funding for arts and culture commission to further improve <br />the community. <br />• Manuela Lopez, expressed gratitude for approving 5 -year Strategic Plan and funding of <br />many of the programs such as Garfield Community Center and expansion of the E- <br />Library. <br />• Irma Jauregui, thanked all for including community in funding priorities of the 5 -year <br />Strategic Plan. <br />• Jose Rea, echoed comments by Irma Jauregui and funding for the Pacific Electric Park <br />and community garden at Madison; concerned with recent pedestrian fatality on May <br />5th; urged all to make safety a top priority as included in the Strategic Plan. <br />• Ginelle Hardy, supports continued improvements at the South Main Street corridor. <br />• Victor Payan, request full funding for arts programs; support at the State level important <br />to enhance code enforcement. <br />• Sandra Pocha Pena, spoke in support of Agenda Item 65A and full funding for arts <br />program and Arts and Culture commission. <br />• Sharon Barlow, President of the South Main Street Merchants Association, thanked the <br />City Manager for support of South Main Street area; urged full funding to make SOMOS <br />program successful. <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 5 MAY 20, 2014 <br />1 0A -5 <br />
