REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JULY 1, 2014 <br />TITLE: <br />APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT <br />ACCEPTING THE 2014 JUSTICE <br />ASSISTANCE GRANT FOR THE ANTI- <br />DRUG ABUSE ENFORCEMENT TEAM <br />CITY MAN GER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />r.1 »C 90:1l• <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing the 2014 State Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) <br />— Anti Drug Abuse (ADA) Enforcement Team Program grant in the amount of $119,750 and <br />appropriate same into the 2014 State Justice Assistance Grant ADA account. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The State Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) provides funds to support the County -wide Anti -Drug <br />Abuse (ADA) Enforcement Team Program. This multi - jurisdictional drug task force was created <br />to combat street to mid -level drug sales, manufacturing, and distribution. The ADA Enforcement <br />Team integrates federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and prosecutors for the <br />purpose of enhancing interagency coordination and intelligence in the facilitation of multi - <br />jurisdictional investigations. <br />The County of Orange administers the funding for this program, and $119,750 has been <br />allocated to the City of Santa Ana Police Department for FY 2013 -14. This funding covers the <br />approximately two - thirds of the salary and benefits of a Police Investigator who is assigned to <br />assist the ADA Enforcement Team. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />This appropriation adjustment will increase the City's Justice Assistance Grant ADA revenue <br />account (no.12814002 52030) in the amount of $119,750, and increase same in the Justice <br />Assistance Grant ADA expenditure accounts (account nos. 12814412 - various). <br />APPROVED AS TO FUNDS AND ACCOUNTS: <br />Carlos Rojas ( <br />Chief of Police, <br />Santa Ana Police Department <br />Francisco Gutierrez <br />Executive Director, <br />Finance & Mgmt Services Agency <br />20B -1 <br />
