For many <br />families, youths, elderly and those who do not own cars, living closer to transit will create <br />a more walkable, active slid healthy lifestyle for people to get from one destination to <br />another. <br />4) Align with the Sustainable Communities and Climate Protection Act of 2008 (SB 375) <br />and help the City implement and comply with the goals of SB 375. Locating homes, <br />specifically affordable homes such as the Depot at Santiago, near transit (Santa Ana <br />Regional Transportation Center and proposed Fixed Guideway), job centers and <br />neighborhood services will decrease the environmental impacts of traffic congestion, <br />vehicle miles travelled (VMT) and greenhouse gas emissions. <br />5) Achieve the vision and goals of the Transit Zoning Code which "provides for the <br />integration of new infill development into existing neighborhoods, allows for the reuse of <br />existing buildings, supports mixed -use development, provides a transit - supportive, <br />pedestrian- oriented development framework to reduce vehicle trips, reduce greenhouse <br />gas emissions, and support the addition of new transit infrastructure, and provides an <br />economic development stimulus "z <br />The Commission looks forward to continuing our partnership with the City to increase affordable <br />home opportunities for lower income working families.
