MOTION: Tinajero SECOND: Sarmiento <br />VOTE: AYES: Amezcua, Pulido, Sarmiento, Tinajero (4) <br />NOES: Benavides, Martinez, Reyna (3) <br />ABSTAIN: None (0) <br />ABSENT: None (0) <br />CLOSED SESSION REPORT - There were no reportable actions. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />• Steve McGuigan, supports Agenda Item 23A and is available to answer any <br />questions. <br />• Carolyn Torres, Chicanos Unidos, spoke in opposition to gang injunction and <br />expressed that she has spoken about this matter before and has been treated as if <br />her concern was unnecessary. <br />• Uriel Ramirez, Chicanos Unidos, spoke about gang injunction on Townsend Avenue <br />feels his rights have been violated. <br />• Vanessa Cerda, Chicanos Unidos, spoke in opposition to gang injunction; protect <br />their families, not break them. <br />• Ariel Meza, Christian Tabenackle, spoke about gang injunction, said there are <br />alternatives, and community should work together to find new ways to meet the <br />needs of the young population. Wants a different solution. <br />• Jaden Rocha, against gang injunction says it is racist and wrong because it <br />separates families. <br />• Genevieve Huizar, spoke in opposition to gang injunction, wants freedom. <br />Alexis Navateodoro, opposes to gang injunction because people are losing their <br />homes, it is unfair. <br />• Robert Sanchez, Chicanos Unidos, opposed to police injunctions; comprehensive <br />job programs and not criminalize youth. <br />• Erica Navarro, Chicanos Unidos, spoke about misrepresentation at community <br />meetings; need job placement and trauma care and summer programs; <br />• Gilbert Belmontes, Chicanos Unidos, spoke on police abuse; increased police <br />presence <br />• Gaby Hernandez, Chicanos Unidos, expressed that gang injunction is not the <br />solution; request all options be exhausted; <br />• Alfonso Alvarez, commented on current gang injunction on Townsend Avenue; <br />protect personal and constitutional rights; that community does not need gang <br />injunction. <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 11 JULY 1, 2014 <br />1 0A -11 <br />
