Proposal to Provide Actuarial Valuation of GPEB Liabilities <br />For the City of Santa Ana <br />April 17, 2014 <br />Catherine Macleod, FSA, EA, MAAA <br />Director, Health & Benefits Actuarial Services <br />GTC:. <br />Catherine MacLeod joined Bickmore in November 2008. She brings over 30 years of actuarial <br />experience, strong management and consulting in qualified retirement plans and defined benefit plan <br />actuarial services for public, non - profit and private organizations. In her role as Director, Health and <br />Actuarial Services, Cathy is focused on public entity compliance with GASB 43/45 retiree health care plan <br />accounting standards. She is also highly knowledgeable in charitable gift annuity valuations, 401(k) and <br />profit sharing plans. <br />EXPERIENCE <br />Prior to joining Bickmore, Catherine was a consulting actuary with Independent Actuaries, Inc. She was <br />regularly called upon for the design, actuarial valuation and compliance testing for complex qualified <br />plan arrangements for a variety of businesses. <br />From 1990 through 1995, while at Howard Johnson & Company, Cathy was the client manager and lead <br />consultant supporting the retirement programs for several large, publicly traded companies. Her <br />responsibilities included coordinating the actuarial valuations, reporting, compliance and <br />communication of plan benefits to employees. <br />She began her actuarial career with Standard Insurance Company in 1979 and later became Actuary and <br />Retirement Plans Manager prior to leaving the company in 1990.
