CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />AUGUST 5, 2014 <br />TITLE: APPROVED <br />PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO ❑ As Recommended <br />CLASSIFICATION AND ❑ As mecca Amended <br />COMPENSATION PLAN AND p Ordinance on O' Read�ind <br />ANNUAL BUDGET 0 implementing Resolution <br />0 Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />-j FILE NUMBER <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Adopt a resolution that amends the City's Basic Classification and Compensation Plan (Resolution <br />No. 82 -110) and amends the Fiscal Year 2014 -15 Annual Budget to add three positions to the <br />Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On March 18, 2014, the City Council adopted a strategic plan that provides a clear statement of <br />the City's direction over the next five years. The Strategic Plan includes a set of principles that will <br />guide actions, a set of multi -year goals that will guide decisions, and a plan for implementation. In <br />order to provide staffing to assist in achieving the programmatic milestones established in the <br />Strategic Plan, the Executive Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services proposes the <br />addition of two Recreation Program Coordinator positions and one Recreation Leader position. <br />One of the Recreation Program Coordinator positions and the Recreation Leader position will <br />assist in coordinating youth sports, after - school programs, and the Wellness Program; the other <br />Recreation Program Coordinator position will be assigned to oversee day -to -day services at the <br />Southwest Senior Center. <br />These new positions will facilitate the achievement of goals that pertain to the youth sports and <br />wellness objectives of the Strategic Plan and will further the City's efforts in expanding youth <br />programming and improving the health and wellness of all residents. These positions will be <br />funded entirely from monies allocated through the Strategic Plan. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item allows the City to meet Goal #2 — Youth, Education, Recreation, Objective <br />#2, Expand youth programming and Goal #5 Community Health, Livability, Engagement <br />Sustainability, Objective #6, Focus projects and programs on improving the health and wellness of <br />all residents. <br />5513-1 <br />
