5.12 Reallocation of Salary Rate Ranges. Any employee who is employed in a <br />classification which is reallocated to a different salary rate range from that <br />previously assigned shall be retained in the same salary step in the new <br />salary rate range as he or she had previously held in the prior rate range and <br />shall retain credit for length of service in such step towards advancement to <br />the next higher step. <br />5.13 Request for Classification Review. Any employee who, for a continuous <br />period exceeding six (6) months, believes he or she is regularly and <br />consistently performing duties and /or responsibilities not in conformance with <br />their classification concept or, duties and /or responsibilities of another <br />classification, may request a classification review of their position through <br />their supervisor to the Department Head. The employee must submit their <br />request on a form specified by the Executive Director of Personnel Services, <br />outlining in writing how they believe their current duties and /or responsibilities <br />differ from their classification concept. <br />A. The Department Head shall review the employee's submitted request <br />and within sixty (60) days shall make one of the following <br />determinations: <br />Will support the employee's request. <br />a. If the Department Head supports the employee's request <br />for a classification review, he or she shall forward the <br />request to the Executive Director of Personnel Services <br />along with justification for support of the employee's <br />request. <br />b. The Department Head shall notify the employee that his <br />or her request has been submitted to the Executive <br />Director of Personnel Services. <br />2. Will not support the employee's request. <br />a. If the Department Head does not support the employee's <br />request for a classification review, he or she shall notify <br />the employee of this decision in writing and set forth the <br />basis for the decision. <br />b. If the Department Head does not support the employee's <br />request, but agrees that some of the duties and /or <br />responsibilities being performed by the employee are <br />CONFIDENTIAL ASSOCIATION OF SANTA ANA (CASA) 299-119 15 Page 16 <br />
