ARTICLE IV <br />4.0 ATTENDANCE, WORKDAY, WORKWEEK, & WORK SCHEDULE <br />4.1 Attendance. All full time SAMA employees covered by this Agreement shall be in <br />attendance at their work during hours prescribed by the Executive Director of his <br />designee(s) and shall not absent themselves during prescribed hours without <br />authorization. SAMA employees shall not be required to submit Leave of Absent <br />Requests for absences of two (2) hours of less. <br />4.2 Hours of Work. Eight (8) hours of work shall constitute a normal day and forty <br />(40) hours of work shall constitute a minimum workweek, except for employees <br />for whom special regulations have been approved by the City Manager. <br />A. 4/10 Work Schedule. The Executive Director, with the approval of the City <br />Manager, may assign SAMA employees to a workweek consisting of four <br />(4) ten (10) hour day with an additional one -half (1/2) or one (1) hour for <br />unpaid lunch periods. The regular workweek shall consist of forty (40) <br />hours. A regular day off shall consist often (10) hours. <br />B. 9/80 Work Schedule. All SAMA employees shall be permitted to work a <br />9/80 work schedule when authorized by the Executive Director and <br />approved by the City Manager. A SAMA employee will not be permitted to <br />work this schedule if in the discretion of the Executive Director and City <br />Manager, the 9/80 work schedule may reduce service to the public. <br />1. 9/80 Work Schedule Defined. The 9/80 work schedule shall be <br />defined as working eighty hours over nine days in two -week period. <br />An employee shall work eight days for nine hours per day and one <br />day for eight hours, excluding a one -hour lunch break during each <br />work shift, totaling forty (40) working hours in each work week. <br />a. The Work Week Period. The forty (40) hour work week <br />period shall be defined as the work period starting from <br />Friday at mid -shift to Friday at mid - shift. No employee <br />working the 9/80 work schedule will be able to flex their <br />Friday start time nor the time they take their lunch break, <br />which will occur in the middle of the day on Fridays. <br />b. The 9/80 Work Period. The 9/80 two -week work period for <br />employees starts Friday mid -shift and continues for fourteen <br />(14) days until Friday mid - shift. During this period, each <br />week is made up of four nine -hour work days (thirty -six <br />2511 -9 <br />
