• Concern about potential construction impacts to 4`h Street businesses <br />• Support for Streetcar Alternative 2 <br />• The physical appearance /attractiveness of the streetcar vehicles <br />• Safety particularly in proximity to schools along the streetcar route <br />Public Review Meeting #2 at Santa Ana Police Department Community Room <br />Public Review Meeting #2 was held on Tuesday, July 17, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 <br />p.m. at the Santa Ana Police Department Community Room. Approximately 40 to 50 <br />people were in attendance. Three people offered public comment for the record at this <br />meeting. The comments were all in support of the project for various reasons including: <br />• Potential economic development and jobs that would result <br />• Landscaping and station area improvements improving overall street attractiveness <br />Public Review Meeting #3 at Goodwill Industries <br />The final public meeting was held on Thursday, July 19, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 <br />p.m. at Goodwill Industries at the western end of the study area. There were <br />approximately 50 to 60 people in attendance at this meeting. Approximately 24 people <br />asked questions or provided comments that were recorded by the court reporter. The <br />comments generally consisted of the following: <br />• Whether an equity analysis had been performed as part of the environmental review <br />process to address issues of environmental justice. <br />• Concern about construction impacts and impacts to the historic buildings on 4`h <br />Street. <br />• How the streetcar would alter the street for bicyclists <br />• Concerns about impacts to on- street parking in the area <br />• Who would use the transit system, whether it was local residents or more regionally <br />oriented <br />• What measures would be taken to provide for community safety <br />• How the project would be funded, and <br />• How many residents would be displaced. <br />4.7.2 Summary of Public Comments Received Outside of the Public Review Meetings <br />A Board Member of Downtown, Inc., representing Downtown and Artists Village <br />merchants and property owners submitted comments on behalf of their membership. <br />Downtown, Inc. expressed their strong support for the project and indicated a preference <br />for Streetcar Alternative 1 so that the route would more closely serve the Downtown and <br />Artist Village business district. <br />The Santa Ana Community & Business Coalition (SAC -BA) submitted a letter stating their <br />opposition the streetcar project on the basis that construction along 4`h Street will severely <br />LPA Decision Report <br />July 2014 <br />55C -69 <br />4.10 1 Page <br />
