ARTICLE [X <br />9.0 HOLIDAYS <br />9.1 Legal Holidays observed by full -time permanent and probationary employees of the City of <br />Santa Ana are as follows: <br />• January lst - New Year's Day <br />• Third (3`d) Monday in January - In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr's Birthday <br />• Third (3`d) Monday in February - In observance of Presidents' Day <br />• Last Monday in May - In commemoration of Memorial Day <br />• July 4d' - In observance of Independence Day <br />• First (1st) Monday of September - In observance of Labor Day <br />• November l ltt' - In observance of Veteran's Day <br />• Fourth (4th) Thursday in November - In observance of Thanksgiving Day <br />• The Friday immediately following Thanksgiving Day <br />• Last working clay before Christmas Day, unless Christmas Day falls on Thursday, in <br />which instance, the day following Christmas Day shall be observed in lieu thereof. <br />• December 25th - In observance of Christmas Day <br />• One (1) Floating Holiday - Any workday selected by the employee with prior <br />permission of the employee's supervisor, <br />• Every day proclaimed by the Mayor of the City as a holiday for City employees. Any <br />holiday which falls on a. Sunday will be observed on the following Monday. Any <br />holiday which falls on a Saturday will be observed on the Friday preceding the <br />holiday. <br />9.2 Full -time permanent and probationary employees covered by this Agreement shall be entitled <br />to receive twelve (12) working days off during the calendar year in lieu of the holiday <br />benefits specified in Section 9.1, supra. Therefore, employees with alternative work <br />schedules shall be credited with 96 hours of Holiday Time at the beginning of every calendar <br />year in lieu of twelve (12) holidays in the year. <br />IL <br />25F -21 <br />
