Evidence that all new nursing staff are trained, <br />• Demonstration of knowledge and skills through competency testing; <br />* Evidence of annual review of skills; and <br />• Evidence of €ralning when new protocols are introduced or revised.- <br />Healthcare staff can access the protocols while treating the patient through TechCcre"". The "Nursing <br />Protocol" tab in TeehC rue'm allows healthcare staff to easily scroll through or alphabetic listing. The <br />protocols ensure that patients are treated in an effective, efficient manner by the nursing staff, and they <br />allow the nursing staff to more easily distinguish m noraliments from emergent medical needs, <br />2. Minimum Equipment <br />NaphCare will, at a minimum, have equipment, supplies, and treatment protocols in place to provide the <br />following basic clinical assessment studies <br />a. Urloetesting, <br />ls. Blood sugars; <br />c. Electrocardiograms (EKG's) <br />d: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPA) <br />e; Tubertulin PPD testing <br />f, Pregnancy test! rig <br />g. Gram stains <br />h: Hemoccult testing and Hematocrittests <br />I. AED (automatic external defibrillator) <br />(.. tin -site X-ray capabi ty (mofxile)` <br />3. Intake Screening <br />Napl Care guarantees that all intake screening examinations will be performed by a qualified health <br />professional on all ICE incoming detainees within two (2) hours of initial entry Into the i litq. This <br />screening will Identify those with mental disorders, inmates in need of segregation or close supervision <br />due to medical reasons as well as those individuals with suicidal tendencies. Screening examination will <br />include assessment of suitability for housing and at -a minimum; documentation of the foilawing:' <br />a. Inquiry into current illnesses, health problems, and conditions, including <br />b; Any past history of tuberculosis or other infectious or communicable illness, orsymptoms e.g: <br />chronic cough, hemoptysis {spitting up blood), lethargy, weakness,weight lass, lass of appetite, <br />fever, night sweats - suggestive of illness <br />c. Mental health problems including suicidal ideation <br />d, Dental problems <br />e. Allergies <br />f, Medication taken and special health requirements <br />g. For women, date of last menstrual period, current gynecological problems and pregnancy <br />h, History of cerebral trauma or seizures <br />1, Use of alcohol and other drugs <br />3 Behavior, including' state of consciousness <br />k: Body deformities and ease of movement <br />1. Identification of disabilities <br />rnr Persistent cough or lethargy <br />n.
