NO. 14 -051) <br />El Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />CITY MANAG <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Award a contract to Siemens Industry, Inc. for the purchase of security cameras in an amount not <br />to exceed $49,000, subject to non - substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City <br />Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Santa Ana Public Library (library) provides residents with resources to meet the community's <br />informational, educational and personal interest needs. The library promotes a safe and <br />wholesome learning environment for young people and their families. In an effort to maintain the <br />safety of patrons, the new security cameras will monitor areas adjacent to the library where visual <br />oversight by staff is not possible. Utilizing the same manufacturer's equipment as previously <br />purchased for other City facilities enables the Santa Ana Police Department to seamlessly link <br />these cameras to their existing video surveillance management system. <br />Santa Ana Ordinance No. NS -2312 authorizes the City to purchase against contracts from any <br />public agency utilizing a competitive bid process. Siemens Industry, Inc. was awarded a national <br />contract for facility security under the National Joint Powers Alliance as a result of open, <br />competitive bidding and meets the City's requirements. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #1 Community Safety, Objective #1, <br />Modernize the Community Policing philosophy to improve customer service, crime prevention <br />and traffic /pedestrian /bicycle safety. <br />22A -1 <br />
