NO. 14 -051) El Implementing Resolution ❑ Set Public Hearing For CONTINUED TO FILE NUMBER CITY MANAG RECOMMENDED ACTION Award a contract to Siemens Industry, Inc. for the purchase of security cameras in an amount not to exceed $49,000, subject to non - substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. DISCUSSION The Santa Ana Public Library (library) provides residents with resources to meet the community's informational, educational and personal interest needs. The library promotes a safe and wholesome learning environment for young people and their families. In an effort to maintain the safety of patrons, the new security cameras will monitor areas adjacent to the library where visual oversight by staff is not possible. Utilizing the same manufacturer's equipment as previously purchased for other City facilities enables the Santa Ana Police Department to seamlessly link these cameras to their existing video surveillance management system. Santa Ana Ordinance No. NS -2312 authorizes the City to purchase against contracts from any public agency utilizing a competitive bid process. Siemens Industry, Inc. was awarded a national contract for facility security under the National Joint Powers Alliance as a result of open, competitive bidding and meets the City's requirements. STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #1 Community Safety, Objective #1, Modernize the Community Policing philosophy to improve customer service, crime prevention and traffic /pedestrian /bicycle safety. 22A -1
