At least one Presenter involved in the presentation of the Firearms class shall be certified in the <br />administration of First Aid and CPR. <br />C. Participants are queried to identify any pre- existing injuries or medical conditions which may affect their <br />ability to safely participate in the Firearms training class. <br />D. When the Presenter has doubts as to the participant's ability to safely perform any of the required <br />training, the participants required to provide evidence of medical fitness for training. <br />1. When doubt exists as to the participant's ability to safely perform any training task, Presenters <br />shall exclude the participant from training. <br />2. Evidence of medical fitness may include a clearance from a physician, or an attestation by the <br />participant's employing agency that such medical clearance has been obtained. <br />E. Presenters of the Firearms class shall maintain a high level of discipline over the participants at all times. <br />F. During heat waves or other adverse climatic conditions, the pace of the Presentation and intensity level <br />shall be reduced to avoid participant injury or illness. <br />G. Presenters of the Firearms class shall wear clearly identifiable clothing. <br />IV. PRESENTER QUALIFICATION <br />The primary Presenter of the Firearms training programs shall have attended a POST Certified Firearms <br />Presenter Program, or its equivalent. <br />V. PRESENTER TO PARTICIPANT RATIO <br />Due to the inherent danger of firearms, the number of Presenters shall be sufficient to provide adequate <br />supervision over each participant. During the practical application portion of the Firearms class, the Presenter to <br />participant ratio shall be: five participants or less to each Presenter. (5:1) <br />VI. FACILITY GUIDELINES <br />General: <br />A. The training site is located so as to reduce potential hazards to the public caused by the firing of <br />weapons. <br />B, The training site is located in an area that minimizes the fire hazard to structures and vegetation. <br />C. The site is reasonably free of loose gravel, rocks, or other debris which could become unintended flying <br />objects. <br />D. Restroom facilities and drinking water are available at the training site or in the immediate vicinity. <br />E. A telephone or an emergency radio communications device is immediately accessible in the event of an <br />emergency requiring outside assistance. <br />F. A fire extinguisher is readily available at the training site whenever metal targets are utilized in flammable <br />surroundings. <br />Page 4 of 16 <br />
