o There are issues with belongings being stolen in shelters, thus they keep belongs <br />with them <br />• Drop off center for homeless to store belongings needed. Rules and guidelines <br />needed to assure drop off is manageable and successful, with belongings <br />dropped off and picked -up during certain hours. <br />• Costa Mesa "drop -off center" allows the homeless to store their belongings (in a <br />40 minute window ?) <br />• Lockers <br />• Anaheim's ordinance requires <br />• Concerns for clients losing their items <br />3. Creating Community - Policies and Programs: <br />What other policy and programs would you suggest to address the City's Homeless Shelter <br />and Transitional /Supportive Housing needs? <br />• Emergency shelters for different populations -No one -size fits all <br />o Families, children <br />• Those who just lost their homes <br />• Mental health disorders <br />o Single women (residential zones, healthy in neighborhoods) <br />• Vastly different types of services per population <br />• Need some temporary structure to keep people moving towards self - sufficiency <br />• Currently, vacant motels can apply to be transitional housing <br />• Different reasons for becoming homeless -think of approaching homeless population <br />with this in mind <br />• Different guidelines per subpopulation - Maybe different shelter locations, different <br />providers <br />• Suggested provider forms to allow programs to come in (Jacob Lee) <br />• Organize providers so that they can organize their resources and disperse them among <br />various shelters logically and efficiently- currently trying to be done <br />o Ex. S.A.
