2.01 RELATIVE COMPACTION TESTS <br />The following test methods shall be used for determining relative compaction: <br />California Test 216 (Sand Cone Method) <br />California Test 231 (Nuclear Gauge Method) <br />The Contractor will provide compaction test at locations deemed necessary by the Project <br />Manager. If compaction fails to meet the contract specifications, then the Contractor shall make <br />the necessary adjustments and is responsible for the cost of additional compaction tests until <br />compaction per the specifications is met. <br />2.02 UNCLASSIFIED EXCAVATION <br />This section shall conform to Subsection 300 -2 and 300 -4 of the Standard Specifications and these <br />Special Provisions. <br />Unclassified excavation shall consist of all excavation including sawcutting and removal of <br />roadways, bituminous pavement, concrete pavement and the removal of curbs, sidewalks, and <br />driveways, etc. as shown on the plans. <br />Payment for Unclassified Excavation shall be paid at the lump sum contract unit prices listed in the <br />Bid Proposal for Site Work and shall include all equipment, post hole excavations, concrete <br />footings and other incidentals as necessary to install complete and in place for the project as <br />shown on the drawings and specified herein <br />2.03 PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE <br />Portland cement concrete (PCC) shall conform to Sections 200, 303 and 400 of the Standard <br />Specifications. <br />Payment for Portland Cement Concrete shall be paid at the lump sum contract unit prices listed in <br />the Bid Proposal for Site Work and shall include all equipment, post hole excavations, concrete <br />footings and other incidentals as necessary to install complete and in place for the project as <br />shown on the drawings and specified herein <br />2.04 CONCRETE CURB GUTTER WALKS DRIVEWAY APPROACHES AND CROSS GUTTERS <br />This Section shall conform to Sections 201, 303 and 400 of the Standard Specifications <br />Curbs and /or gutters to be constructed shall match existing in all dimensions and shall conform <br />to Standard Plan No. 1101. Reconstructed curb and gutters shall be constructed so the top of <br />curb matches the sidewalk surface elevation. When the plans do not show replacement limit <br />stations, the Project Manager shall approve replacement limits. Prior to acceptance of the curb <br />and gutter construction by the Project Manager, a flow test shall be conducted by the Contractor in <br />the presence of the Project Manager. <br />All concrete work shall be finished in texture, scoring, banding in generally the same manner as the <br />adjacent existing improvements, unless specified. <br />Payment for Concrete Curb, gutter, walks, driveway approaches and cross gutters shall be paid at <br />the lump sum contract unit prices listed in the Bid Proposal for Site Work and shall include all <br />equipment, post hole excavations, concrete footings and other incidentals as necessary to install <br />>anta Ana RFP 13 -064 <br />Page 19 <br />2511 -23 <br />
