REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />OCTOBER 21, 2014 <br />TITLE: <br />CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 2014-19 <br />TO ALLOW A TYPE 23 ALCOHOLIC <br />BEVERAGE CONTROL LICENSE FOR <br />NETWORK BREWERY AT 1824 EAST <br />CARNEGIE AVENUE - BRIAN ANDERSON, <br />APPLICANT (STRATEGIC P AN NO. 3,2) <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />® As Recommended <br />As Amended <br />LI Ordinance on I" Reading <br />L7 Ordinance on a Reading <br />El Implementing Resolution <br />El Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Receive and file the staff report approving Conditional Use Permit No. 2014 -19 as conditioned. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION <br />On September 22, 2014, the Planning Commission adopted a resolution approving Conditional <br />Use Permit No. 2014 -19 as conditioned by a vote of 6:0 (Alderete absent) which approved a <br />Type 23 Alcoholic Beverage Control license to allow a small beer manufacturer at Network <br />Brewery at 1824 East Carnegie Avenue located in the Light Industrial (M1) zoning district. The <br />Planning Commission made no changes to the recommended conditions of approval outlined in <br />the attached staff report (Exhibit A). <br />DISCUSSION <br />Network Brewery intends to occupy 1,500 square feet of a 35,000 square foot building for the <br />micro - brewery use with the remainder of the building occupied by industrial and office uses. The <br />site is located at the southwest corner of Carnegie Avenue and Daimler Street. The approval of <br />the CUP would allow a Type 23 Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) license for a small beer <br />manufacturer with a 75 square foot tasting area. Full sized site plans are available for public <br />viewing in the Clerk of the Council Office. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Coal No, 3 Economic Development, <br />Objective No. 2 (create new opportunities for business /job growth and encourage private <br />development through new General Plan and Zoning Ordinance policies). <br />31 BB -1 <br />
