As of <br />January, 2014, the County's median income <br />was $84,900. <br />Approximately 79% of families on the <br />program earn less than 30% of the median <br />income, which is $27,100 per year for a <br />family of four. <br />Participants' incomes come from a variety of <br />sources, as illustrated in Chart 6. <br />5. Income as Percent of Median <br />Below8n of� <br />Median <br />Below <br />Me <br />lE <br />Nearly half (43 %) of participating families have <br />employment income. <br />Participating families pay a portion of their monthly <br />rent based upon their income and the payment <br />standard for their unit. The Housing Authority pays <br />the difference between the tenant's portion and the <br />contract rent. This payment is the Housing <br />Assistance Payment (HAP). The average HAP for <br />April through June was $882. <br />Production <br />HQS Inspections - each assisted unit must <br />be inspected at least annually to ensure it <br />meets the Housing Quality Standards <br />(HQS) in compliance with federal <br />guidelines. From April to June, a total of <br />636 inspections and re- inspections of <br />failed units were performed.
