HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION ACTION On October 2, 2014, the Historic Resources Commission recommended by a vote of 8:0 that the City Council authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the attached agreement with Ira Blitz, property owner, for the structure located at 301 East Eighth Street, subject to non - substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. DISCUSSION This action allows for the approval of a Historic Property Preservation Agreement (Mills Act Contract) which provides a potential property tax reduction allowing the property owner to reinvest the tax savings into the maintenance of the historic property (Exhibit A). Additionally, the agreement prevents inappropriate alterations. STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal No. 5 Community Health, Livability, Engagement & Sustainability, Objective No. 2 (expand opportunities for conservation and environmental sustainability) and Objective No. 3 (facilitate diverse housing opportunities and support efforts to preserve and improve the livability of Santa Ana neighborhoods). 25A -1
