The Chestnut Avenue rehabilitation project, from Broadway to Main Street was identified
as a high priority for restoration on the City's Pavement Management System. The
existing concrete pavement deteriorated due to weather, age, and usage. Originally, the
project would reconstruct concrete pavement with new asphalt concrete pavement and
replace damaged curb, gutter, sidewalk, driveways, and ramps. However, in order to
preserve and restore the historical appearance of the neighborhood, the Heninger Park
Neighborhood Association collaborated with city staff to find solutions to preserve the
concrete streets in their neighborhood. Hence, the contractor was directed to change the
scope of work to instead perform localized concrete replacement as noted on PCO No. 1,
per the new agreed unit prices noted below. Cost is subject to the final quantity of work
performed.
